BIOPRO gathers international biotech elite 20 young international biotech talents will gather from 21-26 October in the Danish town of Sorø to participate in the World Talent Campus arranged by BIOPRO.BIOPRO was officially inaugurated on 1 February 2013, and with a circle of partners counting two Danish universities, four international biotech businesses and CAT Science Park, the development of tomorrow’s biotech production is already in full swing. Research and development takes place at Novozymes, Novo Nordisk and DONG Energy in the town of Kalundborg and at CP Kelco in the town of Lille Skensved near Køge.
The World Talent Campus will be held at the knowledge centre ScienceTalenter, Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Videncenter in Sorø, and the 20 selected participants are PhD students from 14 leading universities around the world. The group of students includes two participants from the University of Copenhagen and two from the Technical University of Denmark.
BIOPRO has a number of development projects which since February have gathered scientists from the universities and employees from the participating businesses, while the World Talent Campus is a project aiming to contribute to the establishment of an international network of students, universities and biotech businesses.
"We are in the process of creating a biotech cluster to strengthen Danish biotech production, and the establishment of a network is a key element," says Managing Director Jesper Bryde-Jacobsen, BIOPRO.
The international participants will be staying in Denmark for one week and will be taught by leading scientists from the University of Copenhagen and the Technical University of Denmark. The participants will also be involved in some of the specific problems faced by BIOPRO at the moment.
The World Talent Campus is sponsored by the Novo Nordisk Foundation and the BIOPRO partners.
