BIOPRO strengthens Danish biotech

According to articles in the Danish media today, the joint investment in BIOPRO has resulted in nine new companies with 40 high tech jobs.

BIOPRO was launched two years ago when Innovation Fund Denmark joined some of the largest companies in Denmark, a series of universities as well as Region Zealand in order to create the four year collaboration, BIOPRO. The goal was to promote the Danish production of biotech and to create new businesses. 

Now, the efforts have paid off and Jesper Bryde-Jacobsen, Managing Director at BIOPRO, knows exactly why.

"New ideas are supported in the best possible way due to the collaboration between the companies, the universities and the start-ups. It is a very strong collaboration and it is exactly this synergy which develops biotech production in Denmark."

The nine new start-ups are: FreeSense, BioMatics Technology, AnalyticTrust, FRS Systems, DataIntelligence, BioScavenge, ParticleTech, GermControl and BioVisiu.


The partners in BIOPRO are: CAPNOVA, Chr. Hansen, CP Kelco, DONG Energy, Novo Nordisk, Novozymes and the universities DTU and KU. The total investments amount to 128 million DKK.

Danish biotech boosted by solid DKK 128 million investment
A new, ambitious research centre will bolster Denmark's position in the biotech industry. The centre, which will have a budget of DKK 128 million, is the result of a joint initiative between Innovation Fund Denmark and Region Zealand based on the results of the Zealand-based biotech cluster BIOPRO.
